Albert Deal Obituary

Albert "Harry" Deal, 85 of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully at Parker Personal Care Home on April 2, 2024.   Harry was born in Eau Claire on October 9, 1938.  He was the son of the late Albert and Mary (Hamas) Deal.  He graduated from Moniteau High School and later attended classes at Butler County Community College.  While in high school he worked at Beatty's garage and hung out with good friend Jimmy Beatty.  He then joined the United States Navy serving proudly on active duty from 1956-1959 as a submariner.  Harry enjoyed his time in the Navy and traveled the world bringing back many fond memories and great stories.  After his honorable discharge he began his career at Armco working in the melt shop, pipe shop and hilltop maintenance.  He retired with over forty years of service.

Harry married the love of his life, Elizabeth A. Polm, on September 21, 1963.  Together they had two children Kent and Beth.  A family man, he had an incredible work ethic and could fix anything and everything.  His saying was when in doubt we work. Affectionately known as "Pop", he also enjoyed spending countless hours with his children and grandchildren.  They will cherish the memories playing sports, croquet, and riding mini-bikes.  He loved to watch sports and coached local youth baseball and midget football teams.

Harry had a generous heart helping people whenever he could.  He was a dedicated member of the Masonic Temple, NRA, the VFW and also served on the Eau Claire Borough Council.  Harry and his long-time friend Loyal Bell enjoyed their outings to gun shows and stopping for lunch.

His later years were devoted to caring for his wife.  They recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary because he recognized early on that she was always right.

Loved ones to cherish his memory are wife Elizabeth "Betsy" Deal of Parker, son Kent (Stephanie) Deal of Boyers, and his daughter Beth Deaton of Maryland.  Harry's beloved grandchildren Michael Deal of Boyers, Alyssa (Stewart) Kelly of Florida, Erik Deaton of Maryland and Zachary Deaton of Maryland, and his three great grandchildren Colt, Jackson and Scarlett.  Harry's sister, Billie Jean Bernlohr of Butler, his sister-in-laws Helen Polm and Dolores Grove of Eau Claire, and in addition many nieces and nephews.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents and brother Clifford Deal.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Parker Personal Care Home and Aseracare hospice.  Their kindness and compassionate care demonstrate angels are real.   Memorial donations can be made to either of these organizations on Harry's behalf.
